As a parent, I know what it is to like to worry about your children as they start school and develop socially. Will they make friends, will they be bullied, will they become a bully? All of these worries can make you sick with anxiety so it is good to know that there are organisations out there designed to help parents, children, teenagers, teachers and schools tackle the issue of bullying. Our support for Bullying UK, the country’s leading anti-bullying charity, is working towards reducing the impact that bullying can have on children and their families. This is a sensitive issue for most of our customers, who have young children themselves or are closely connected with the children of their friends and family.
You may have seen our specially designed t-shirts featuring Kiss and Katch, which promote kindness between children. For every one of these special T-shirts that is bought, 20% of the profits will go to Bullying UK. Today, the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) launched a DVD that will be sent out to every school in the UK with guidance for teachers on how to spot and stop bullying of children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. The DVD will also help children to understand more about their peers with SEN and disabilities, and how bullying can affect their lives. This comes in the wake of several news stories detailing the tragic consequences of bullying and the lack of understanding many schools and organisations of authority have surrounding the issue.
You can show your support for Bullying UK by following them on Twitter @bullyinguk, checking out their website at www.bullying.co.uk or making a donation through our T-Shirts or directly onto their website.
